1.  Recount text

Ø  Recount text is text that retell about a story, experience, and other.

Ø  Purpose >>  To Retell about past event.

Ø  Recount text use :

Simple Past Tense.

S  +  Verb 2 +  O +  ....

 

Ø  Example : when, one day, once upon a time, last holiday , after, before, and other.

Ø  Recount text we will not get “is” or “are” but it will change to “was” or “were”.

Ø  Generic Structure :

·        Orientation

·        Event

·        Reorientation

 2. Report text

Ø  Report text is a text which presents information about something.

Ø  Purpose >> To Presenting information about something.

Ø  Recount text use :

Simple Present Tense.

S + Verb 1 + O + ...

 

Ø  Use conditional logical connection :

when,so,etc.

Ø  Generic Structure :

·        General Classification :

Stating classification of general aspect of thing; animal, public place, plant, etc which will be discussed in general.

·        Description :

Describing the thing which will be discussed in detail; part per part , customs or deed for living creature and usage for materials.

3.  Narrative text

Ø  Narrative is a text focusing specific participants which tells an interesting story.

Ø  Purpose >> To tell stories or past events and entertain or amuse the readers. (Legend, fable,....)

Ø  Narrative text use :

Simple Past Tense.

S  +  Verb 2 +  O +  ....

 

Ø  Generic Structure :

·        Orientation

·        Complication

·        Resolution

4.  Descriptive text

Ø  Descriptive text is a text which say what a person or a thing is like.

Ø  Purpose >> To describeand reveal a particular person, place, or thing.

Ø  Descriptive text use :

Simple Present Tense.

S + Verb 1 + O + ...

Ø  Generic Structure :

·        Identification : identifying the phenomenon to be described.

·        Description : describing the phenomenon in parts, qualities, or/and characteristics.

5.  Procedure text
 

Ø  Procedure text is a text that is designed to describe how something is achieved through a sequence of actions or steps.

Ø  Purpose >> How to “make do something”

Ø  Procedure text use :

Simple Present Tense.

S + Verb 1 + O + ...

Ø  It also uses the temporal conjunction such as first, second, then, next, finally, etc.

Ø  Generic Structure :

·        Goal/aim

·        Materials

·        Ingredients

·        Steps
